The Montgomery County and Wellsville-Middletown FFA chapters will participate in the 96th National FFA Convention and Expo at Indianapolis, Ind., on Nov. 1-4.
Both chapters will get an opportunity to explore student and teacher workshops, career success tours, concerts, rodeos, delegate events and award recognition ceremonies during the four-day event.
The MCHS FFA has set up its itinerary for the Indiana trip. A total of 25 students will head to Indianapolis.
The chapter will leave at 6:15 a.m. on Nov. 1. Members will attend the first general session at Lucas Oil Stadium during the afternoon. They will attend a Lainey Wilson concert during the evening.
The next day, the MCHS chapter will attend a career show in the morning and head to Clear Creek Fisheries in Martinsville, which is south of Indianapolis. On Oct. 3, members will attend the fifth session and a career show in the morning and go on the Exotic Feline Rescue Center tour in the afternoon before heading back to MCHS in the evening.
On the final day, eight students – four from MCHS and four from W-M – will earn their American FFA Degree. The ceremony will start at 7:30 a.m.
MCHS graduates Chadley Davis, Izzy Freymuth, Josh Gilbert and Heather Stille and W-M graduates Taren Justice, Abbigail Kleinsorge, Lucas Peak and Kaitlyn Poage were selected to earn an American FFA Degree, which is the highest honor anyone in the National FFA Organization can achieve. It is awarded to an FFA member who showed outstanding leadership abilities and was highly involved in the community.
Also, W-M graduate Kaleb Peak will compete for a national title in the swine production placement proficiency at the national convention. Peak, who graduated from W-M in May, joined Matthew Ferrell of Quitman, Ga., John Buryl Neely of Woodbury, Tenn., and Mari Horwath of Stephenville, Texas in the group of national qualifiers.
