The Montgomery County baseball team celebrated its third winning season this spring, going 12-9.
The Wildcats were awarded for their success by having four players on the Eastern Missouri Conference team and three on the Class 3, District 7 team.
Brothers Jace and Colby Ellis were named on both teams. Jace was named first-team utility player and Colby was selected on the second team on the all-EMO squad.
Sophomore Edwin Garcia was named first-team all-EMO pitcher, senior Dayton Simmons earned second-team all-EMO honors and junior Jacob Hogue joined the Ellis brothers on the all-district team.
Jace Ellis earned a spot on the all-conference and all-district teams by leading the Wildcats with a .436 batting average. He was named on the all-league team for the fourth year in a row. Jace hit .500 (13 for 26) in conference games, including a three-hit effort against Silex. He also had a pair of conference victories against Wellsville-Middletown and Elsberry.
Colby Ellis batted .354 to receive all-conference and all-district honors. He hit .524 (11 for 21) in conference play.
Simmons received his first all-conference award. He was the Wildcats’ second-leading hitter with a .385 batting average. He went 6 for 14 (.429) in conference games.
Garcia went 4-2 with a 3.62 earned run average, three of those wins were in conference play. He pitched a six-inning no-hitter against Clopton on April 11. Garcia also hit .264 and had a pair of two-hit efforts against Wellsville-Middletown and Elsberry. He was named to the all-conference team for the first time.
Hogue was named to the 18-member all-district team after going 1 for 3 against Elsberry in a district semifinal game on May 11 at the MCHS baseball field. He also hit .300 with 15 RBIs on the season.
The Wildcats finished 8-1 in conference play after sharing the league title with Elsberry last year. They also had four players on the all-EMO team for the fourth year in a row.
MCHS lost 3-2 to Elsberry in the district semifinals.
