Betty Ann Borgers, 91, of Wentzville, previously of New Florence, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Twin Oaks in Wentzville.

Betty was born on February 24, 1932, to James Henry and Dorothy (Hildebrandt) Winkler. She married her love, Edward Henry Borgers, in St. Louis on November 26, 1955. They spent 46 cherished years together before Edward’s passing on March 30, 2002. 

Betty enjoyed sewing, reading and caring for the flowers on her and her husband’s farm in New Florence. She loved traveling as she and Edward would travel to Texas every winter. She also spent time playing cards and continued to play them during her stay at Twin Oaks. Her favorite game was Texas Hold ‘Em.

She is survived by brothers-in-law, Leonard (Myrle) Borgers and Robert Schantz; sisters-in-law, Sandi Winkler and Elaine Borgers; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Henry Borgers; parents, James Henry and Dorothy Winkler; brothers, Robert and James Winkler; and siblings-in-law, Juanita Winkler, Dorothy Borgers, LaVerne (Charles) Edwards, Irma (Alfred) Crawford, Norma (Harry) Mueller, Marvin Borgers and Marlene Schantz.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City with Reverend John Foster officiating. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Big Spring Methodist Cemetery. Casketbearers will include Ronald Mueller, Mark Edwards, James Borgers, Robert Borgers, Jason Schantz, Mike Grosse and Brady Grosse. Paul Hammond is an honorary casketbearer.
