Betty Joan Fort Goran passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, surrounded by family.

Betty was born July 17, 1938 near Shamrock to Clarence “Ted” and Erma Fort. She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1956, married in 1957 and helped build a successful construction and real estate business in Montgomery City while devotedly raising her three children. She loved dancing, camping, traveling and cooking meals to share with family and friends. In 2008, Betty moved to Columbia, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She met Richard Moore in 2012, and they have happily danced, traveled and played shuffleboard together ever since.

Betty is survived by her children Sherri (Duane) Perry, Jeff (Candy) Goran and Jason (Lisa) Goran; grandchildren Tommy (Tiffany) Goran, Dalton Perry and Brittni Goran (Jordan Daughtery); great-grandchildren, Sophia Goran, Jeffrey Goran, Cora Daughtery and Sofia Daughtery; her sweetheart, Richard Moore; and countless friends, family members and loved ones who remember her quick smile, kind heart and frequent phone calls.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Erma Fort; brother Gene; and sister-in-law Cheryl.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 30, 2025, at Midway Locust Grove Church with visitation at 11:00 and service at noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Midway Locust Grove Church.
