Carol Faye Clark, 67, formerly of rural Montgomery City, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at St. Andrew's Nursing Home in New Florence.

Carol was born on February 27, 1957 in Mexico (Audrain County) to David Eugene and Edith Candace May Clark. Her parents were overjoyed, having prayed for another child since the birth of their son, Richard Eugene,15 years earlier.

In her younger years, Carol enjoyed playing on the family farm with her many cats and her beloved dog, Ricky. Over the years, she also had several Budgie parakeets, all of which she affectionately named Budgie. Carol also enjoyed tagging along with her dad when he went coyote hunting.

Carol was a 1975 graduate of Montgomery County R-II High School, always maintaining excellent grades. After high school she started nursing school, but was unfortunately unable to complete due to a disability.

Even though Carol never had any children, she was a loving aunt. She will be fondly remembered for spending countless hours with her niece, playing board games and ping-pong, listening to music, and talking about growing up on the farm.

She was a dedicated caregiver to her mother, until her mother required nursing home care. It was then that Carol volunteered at Gamma Road Nursing Center, where she was presented with an award for the care she gave the residents. She was a shining light to many.

Carol had many pastimes. She enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends and was known for always ordering only a plain cheeseburger. She also loved oatmeal cream pies and donuts. It amazed her family that she would only eat half each day! Throughout her lifetime, Carol was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She also enjoyed watching game shows on TV. The last few years, she lived at St. Andrew’s Nursing Home, where she enjoyed Bible study and playing bingo with her friends there. She never had a negative thing to say about anyone, even in the face of adversity.

Carol attended Buell United Methodist Church her entire life, where she was baptized and confirmed. With her mother's guidance, she grew to become a devout Christian woman and prayer warrior. It was her faith in Jesus that sustained her through her many health battles. Carol looked forward to the day when she would be in heaven with Jesus and her parents. Even though her loved ones miss her, they rejoice knowing she has entered heaven.

Carol is survived by her beloved family, including niece Angela “Angie” (Clark) Weber and her husband David of St. Charles and cousin Sally (Clark) Whanger and her husband Lee of Montgomery City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and also her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Cheryl Clark.

Carol was a brightly shining star in many lives. Even though she is no longer with us, her light will shine forever in many hearts. Carol was cremated and there was no service, per her wishes. A memorial marker will be placed next to her parents and brother in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Montgomery City.
