Cherylene Evelyn (Carpenter) Dillon, age 77, of Fulton and formerly of Montgomery City, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at University Hospital in Columbia with family by her side.

Cheryl was born on November 25, 1947, in Lafe, Ark., to Everett and Ailene “Tiny” (Bowers) Carpenter. She grew up in St. Charles. After a few moves here and there, she settled in Montgomery City until her move to Fulton.

Cheryl worked most her life providing care to the disabled and the elderly. She loved animals and had numerous pets throughout her life, including her dog Little Bit, whom she spoiled with ice cream. She dearly missed her dog Icy and cat Thomas, both left her too soon. She enjoyed planting flowers and was very proud of them. You would never catch her without her sweet tea. Her favorite hobbies were reading, listening to music, painting and stopping at every antique shop she passed by.

Cheryl is survived by her four children: Angela (Richard) Montano of Kansas City, Marty Bushdiecker of St. Charles, David Bushdiecker of Montgomery City and Jessica (Paul) Horn of Montgomery City; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Michael Carpenter, Dennis Carpenter, DeeDee Huff, Penny Hensley and Bobby Beeson.

Cheryl will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 16 at the New Florence Community Building.
