Raymond Donald “Don” Pool, 90, of Wellsville, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Friday January 6, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday January 12, 2023, at the Wellsville United Methodist Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Catterton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Wellsville Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Myers Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Don was born on December 12, 1932, in Montgomery City. He was the son of Raymond and Mary (Fipps) Pool. On February 23, 1958, he married Patricia Ruth “Pat” Conz at the Wellsville Methodist Church.

Don was a fixture of Wellsville. He operated Pool’s Barber Shop from October of 1962 until he retired in September of 2012. He barbered in Wellsville for over 55 years.

Don was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Corregidor and was part of the U.S. Navy Rhine River Patrol in Schierstein, Germany. He served from 1951 until 1955.

Don was a member of the Wellsville VFW Post, was a Mason and a former Mayor and Alderman of Wellsville.

In addition to his wife of nearly 65 years, survivors include one son, Mark (Janice) Poole, of Boonville; two grandchildren, Anna Poole, of Boonville, and Bethany Poole, of Mission, Kan.; and four great grandchildren, Dayton, Alivia, Layla, and Harlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Dorothy Wyatt.
