Doris Boone (nee Smith) of O’Fallon died on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the age of 86. She was a beloved wife of the late Raymond E. Boone for 59 years, a beloved daughter of the late Frank and Frances Smith, a loving mother to Michael (Lori) Boone, Douglas (Cherie) Boone and Kenneth (Carol Hughes) Boone, a doting grandmother to Trevor (Grace) Boone, Kazton Boone, Bradley (Kara) Boone, Grant (Mary) Boone, Diana Boone and Kayla (Rob) Chapman, a loving great-grandmother to Cecilia, Gabriella, Donovan, Trinity, Alexis, Maximus and Blair, a dearest sister of the late Elsie Murray, Marjorie Asby, Ruthie Foster, the late Ed Smith and Lynne Ohnemus and a dear aunt, cousin, sister-in-law and friend to many.
Doris graduated from high school in Barry, Ill. and attended cosmetology school in Iowa. After graduation, she moved to Montgomery City, where she met Raymond. They were married and had three boys. Doris opened her own beauty shop in part of their home.
After the family relocated to O’Fallon, Doris eventually went to work as a technician at Monsanto/MEMC and retired after 25 years of service. Doris was a fiercely loving mother and never stopped looking out for her children. She was also known as an outstanding cook as many in the family will attest. Doris always had a special soft place in her heart for babies and dogs, especially her faithful companion, Daisy. She was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Visitation was held at Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles on Feb. 4. Funeral services were held at the funeral home the following day. An interment followed at St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made in Doris's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
