Dorothy A. “Dottie” Brauer, nee Rose, 93, of Jonesburg, born January 2, 1930, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living in Warrenton.

Dottie worked as the head cashier at a finance company, an O.B.G.Y.N office and the office of personnel with the federal government before retiring from the military airlift command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Dottie served as president for the Federally Employed Women (FEW), Gateway Chapter and the Business and Professional Women (BPW) in Belleville, Ill., and chairman and first president of Belleville Sister Cities Inc. Dottie was one of the co-founders of Belleville Sister Cities Inc. Dottie was a 58-year member of the Belleville Moose Lodge, a member of St. Patrick Catholic and a host of the monthly bingo games at Jonesburg Nursing Home. She started the St. Patrick backpack program, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Warrenton Elks Lodge #2662.

Preceding Dottie in death were her parents, Edwin and Agnes, nee Bothe, Rose; her loving husband of 36 years, Mayor Richard Brauer; her Rose siblings, Donald (Betty), Thomas (late Ruth), twin John (late Thelma) (Carol), twin Jeanne Koechling, (late USAF Lt. Robert Birkenmeier), (late James), Robert and toddler Shirley; and Dottie’s beloved cats, Miss Kitty and Mimi.

Dottie is survived by Rose siblings, Theresa Boyet (late Gene), Marcella Rose, Richard (Shirley); her beloved cat, BB; her Brauer in-laws, Marilyn Ackerman (late Donald), Betty Brauer (late Bill); and a sister-in-law, Carol (late Donald).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in St. Louis or to St. Patrick Catholic Church Endowment Fund in Jonesburg. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

As she wished, Dottie was cremated and will be laid to rest with her husband in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Belleville.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. on April 22, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, followed by a celebration of life mass at 11 a.m.

Dottie will also be remembered by her many Illinois friends and family from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on April 29 at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home in Belleville. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Arrangements by George Renner & Sons Funeral Home in Belleville.
