The Montgomery County Wildcats had a total of eight players named to this year’s Eastern Missouri Conference basketball teams – four each in the boys and girls divisions.
The Wildcats’ representatives on the all-EMO boys team were juniors Clayton Parker, Tyler Erwin and Isaiah Thomas and senior Jake Stellwagen. Seniors Madi Polston, Maddy Queathem, Malia Rodgers and Olivia Shaw represented MCHS on the all-EMO girls team.
The Wildcats won EMO championships in both boys and girls divisions this year, making it the fifth time in school history that they captured league titles in both divisions in the same year. The other years were 1992, 2020, 2021 and 2023.
Rodgers, Queathem and Shaw were named to the first team and Polston earned second-team honors on the all-EMO girls team. Parker and Stellwagen were voted to the first team and Erwin and Thomas received second-team notice on the all-EMO boys team.
Parker, Rodgers, Queathem and Shaw were named to the all-conference team for the third year in a row, Thomas earned his second all-league honor and Erwin, Stellwagen and Polston were voted to the all-EMO team for the first time.
The MCHS girls finished 10-0 and extended their conference winning streak to 51 games. They won their fifth conference championship in a row and their ninth in program history. They captured titles from 1991, 1992, 1993, 1997, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The MCHS boys also won all 10 league games. The Wildcats won their second straight conference title and their eighth overall. They also placed first in the league in 1989, 1990, 1992, 2017, 2020, 2021 and 2023.
