Eldon Berrey Schrader, 92, of rural Wellsville, passed away on November 1, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday November 4, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church in Wellsville with Pastor Luke Wolters officiating. Burial will follow in Wellsville Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Myers Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Pallbearers are Eldon’s nephews, Montie Milner, Matthew Milner, Rick Van Horn, Eric Van Horn, Jonathan Van Horn and niece Lynn Turner. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Thornhill and Jim Kleinsorge.

Eldon was born December 25, 1929, in Mexico (Audrain County), the son of Oscar Schrader and Lois (Berrey) Schrader. He was a lifelong resident of the Martinsburg and Wellsville area. Following his graduation from Martinsburg High School, he played baseball as a pitcher for the New York Giants farm team until he was drafted into the United States Army. He served in Germany.

On December 8, 1956, he married Evelyn (Milner) Schrader. They shared 56 years together until her death in 2012. Together, they established a home and farming operation in rural Wellsville. Eldon was a well-known farmer in the area.

Eldon enjoyed traveling and made frequent trips with his wife all over the United States, Canada and South America. He toured the Holy Land as well as many countries in Western and Eastern Europe. He and his wife especially enjoyed Hawaii where they vacationed often.

Eldon was active in the community serving as a board member of the Wellsville Rural Fire Department and a member of the Wellsville Young Farmers. He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church and helped with many church projects. He designed and built the cross which hangs above the church altar.

Eldon is survived by two brothers-in-law and their wives, Ted D. Milner and Maureen of Westminster, Colo., and Sidney A. Milner and Judy of Montgomery City.

He was the uncle of Montie Milner and Suzanne of Denver, Colo., Teresa Milner of Westminster, Colo., Karl Milner and Kathy of Gillette, Wyo., Edward Milner and Jane of Hastings, Neb., Tracy Van Horn and husband Rick of Wellsville, Matthew and Karen Milner of Montgomery City and Amy Van Horn and husband Mark of Warrenton and Lynn Turner and husband Doug of Paris (Monroe County). He is also survived by many great-nephews and nieces, cousins and friends.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lois Schrader, his wife, Evelyn Schrader and his brother Robert F. Schader and wife Allie Joyce Schrader.
