Gary Atterberry

Gary Wayne Atterberry, 54, of Montgomery City, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur.

He was born on August 20, 1971 in Mexico to Ralph Wayne Atterberry and Mary (Andrews) Atterberry.

Gary was a talented custom cabinet builder and was employed at Brandkamp Cabinets for 37 years. He was a skilled craftsman who took pride in his work.

Gary was a man of many passions. He enjoyed collecting vintage records and going to concerts. He loved spending time with his wife, Jennifer, whether they were exploring a new place, visiting fall festivals or going antiquing, Gary found happiness in the little adventures they shared together.

He had a good sense of humor and a lighthearted personality that made him easy to be around. He was a steady and supportive father, always there for his son.

Gary will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Gary is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Unnerstall) Atterberry, of the home; his son, Braden Atterberry of Montgomery City; his mother, Mary Atterberry; siblings, Phil (Betty) Johnson, Tony Johnson, Kevin (Alma) Johnson and Michelle (Kenny) Kessler, all of Montgomery City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Wayne Atterberry; his step-son, Patrick Unnerstall; and his sister, Valerie Johnson.

Visitation and funeral services were held on Oct. 9 at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City. Inurnment followed in the Montgomery City Cemetery.
