Great Montgomery Art Hunt scheduled for Sept. 1

Posted

The Montgomery County Arts Council will hold the Great Montgomery County Art Hunt on Sept. 1 as part of a celebration of World Art Drop Day. Residents will get to find handmade art in this treasure hunt. Clues will be given out on the MCAC Facebook page. Free art with adventure is included. Visit the MCAC Facebook page for more information.

World Art Drop Day is an international scavenger hunt held on the first Tuesday of September every year, created to connect artists and their creations to anyone through the joy of giving. Pieces are hidden in public spaces throughout the county and clues are posted in social media to give finders a chance to not only locate the art, but keep it for free.

The first clues will be posted on the Arts Council Facebook page at 10 a.m. on Sept. 1 using tags like #ArtHuntMoCo. Clues will be dropped all day long until 4 p.m.

Once the clues are dropped, the finders must go in person to the location and retrieve the artwork wrapped in brown paper. A number will be posted in the left-hand corner and a blue label will state, “Hello, I’m a piece of art in need of a loving home!”

Finders can unwrap it, take a selfie holding the found artwork and post to the Facebook page, stating their first name, that number in the left hand corner and where the artwork was found.

The Arts Council will post a “Found It!” on the Facebook page so all hunters will note that piece of art has been removed from the game.
