Janet Augusta Adele Rock, who passed away on March 24, was born on September 18, 1934 in the Harvester area of St. Charles County to Walter and Viola (Schmidt) Stiegemeier. She lived in several places while growing up, graduating from Canon City (Colo.) High School at the age of 16. She married James R. Rock on February 17, 1957 in St. Charles. They had three children: Laurie, Lisa, and Alan.

Janet was a hard-working homemaker. She loved God, life and her family. Janet was happiest when being outdoors. She loved helping Jim in the fields, putting in a large garden and canning everything she fed her family. Janet loved doing long walks in the woods, fishing at their lake, spending time with her six grandkids playing in the creeks and sledding in the snow.

Janet and Jim loved to dance. They enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards, hosting BBQs, traveling, going to a fish fry and playing practical jokes on their friends and families.  Janet loved to bowl, attending many tournaments over the years. Janet continued to be very active in her church after Jim’s passing until her own health failed. She was a devoted Christian with a very strong faith.

Janet loved being a grandma. Each grandchild was a true blessing to her. She created a special bond with each and every one of them.

Janet is survived by her children: Laurie (David) Korman of New Florence, Lisa (Gary) Sommer of Montgomery City and Alan (Marie) Rock of Bellflower; six grandchildren: Clayton Sommer of New Florence, Whitney (Jacob Mayfield) Sommer of St. Louis, Caleb (Jennifer) Sommer of Montgomery City, Aaron (Fiancé, Tiffany Swafford) Rock of Bellflower, Keith Rock of Montgomery City and Courtney (Brendan) Babbs of Overland Park, Kan.; great-grandchildren: Everett and Scarlett Sommer and Kynlee and Harper Rock; sister-in-law Virginia Rock; and many nieces and nephews.
