James “Jim” Raymond Roesner, Sr., 78, of Montgomery City, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.
Jim was born on July 12, 1947, in Augusta (St. Charles County), to Raymond Theodore Roesner and Cecelia Josephine (Struckhoff) Roesner. He grew up in Washington (Franklin County) and later moved to Bellflower. Jim joined the United States Army in August 1966 and served during the Vietnam War. He was discharged in August 1968 after completing his service. During his time in the Army, Jim earned several medals in recognition of his dedication and skill. He went on to marry Peggy Ann Petras on July 12, 1969, in Montgomery City. Together, they spent 45 loving years raising their family before her passing in 2015.
Jim worked for many years in maintenance at the Chrysler plant in Fenton. A hardworking man with a big heart, Jim found joy in simple pleasures — cheering on his favorite teams, spending time with his loved ones and connecting with friends wherever he went.
He was an avid sports fan, proudly supporting the Kansas City Chiefs, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Montgomery County Wildcats. If there was a local game, Jim was likely there — he loved all sports and enjoyed being part of the community spirit.
Driving was a hobby for Jim. There’s no telling how many miles he logged in a day, but every mile was filled with purpose — whether visiting family, attending a game or making his rounds to his favorite local. Jim never met a stranger; he loved to chat and could brighten any room with his warm smile.
Jim will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.
Jim is survived by his children: James (Gina) Roesner of Millersburg, Debbie (Jackie) Brower of Montgomery City and Mike Roesner of Middletown; grandchildren: Lane (Abby) Roesner and their children, Riley, Ruby and Everette Roesner, all of St. Peters; Kendalyn (Jeff) Allison of Millersburg, Jackson Brower of Springfield, Brennan Roesner of Fulton and Jacer Brower of Montgomery City; siblings: Delores Ruether of Warrenton, Pat Snider of Centerville, Iowa, and Herman Roesner of Jonesburg.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Ann Roesner; his parents, Theodore and Cecelia Roesner; his grandson, Zachary Roesner; and his daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Roesner.
