Joseph William Heaney, 78, of Hermann, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022, in Rhineland.
Joe was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on August 13, 1944, the son of the late Lawrence & Ruth (Boylston) Heaney.
Joe was the husband of Mary Janice (Fairchild) Heaney. They were united in marriage on July 27, 1968, in St. Charles.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked many years in construction. Most recently working for Prost Company and prior to that, for Daniels Company at the Callaway Power Plant.
Joe was a member of the American Legion of Rhineland and the Laborers Union Local 662 in Jefferson City, where he served as vice president for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, being outdoors at the family farm, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He also gladly helped friends and neighbors by sharing his skill for fixing "just about anything.”
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary Heaney, of Hermann; a son, David Heaney & wife Diane, of Berger; a daughter, Tricia Heaney, of Rhineland; a son, Matt Heaney & wife Katie, of Rhineland; a daughter, Krista Inks & husband Jason, of Pasco, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; three sisters, Lisa Pennebaker, of Clinton, Miss.; Anne Johnson & husband Nat, of New York City; and Therese Jones, of Granite City, Ill.; and a brother, John Heaney & wife Dee, of Aloha, Ore.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas Heaney.
No services will be held. Arrangements were under the direction of Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann.
