Lloyd Bennett Weeks, 87, passed away on Sept. 10 in his home, surrounded by his wife Mary, his three “dog” girls, Trixie, Sophie and Maizie and family members.

Visitation was held on Sept. 15 at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. Graveside services followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lloyd Bennett Weeks was born October 2, 1935 in Mineola to Roger Weeks and Bessie Sailor Weeks. He was raised by his grandparents, Samuel W. and Lottie W. Sailor. He was a direct descendant of Daniel Boone and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He married Mary Smithmier-Weeks on December 23, 1995 in Orlando, Fla. They were married for 27 years.  

Lloyd retired from Lowes in 2008. He enjoyed bass fishing, baseball, reading, history, taking his three girls for rides on their golf cart, flowers, birds and gardening. He loved visiting with all of his family and friends and sharing his colorful stories.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Mary Kiely Smithmier-Weeks; grandson, Justin Hendricks and family; niece, Patricia “Patty” Belew (Greg) of Jonesburg; nephew Daryl Cobb (Nancy) of Montgomery City; great-nieces, Jessica “Jessie” Cobb (Jennifer Krattli) of Montgomery City; great-niece, April Taylor (Matt) and daughter Olivia of Denver, Colo.; sister-in-law, Joan Weeks of Montgomery City; and brother Ron Weeks (Alice) of Montgomery City; nephews; and numerous friends, especially those classmates from Montgomery City high school class.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; brother, Floyd “Bud” Weeks; niece, Tammy Cobb; and great-nephew Allan Cobb.
