Mary Ann Niedergerke

Mary Ann Niedergerke passed away peacefully at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the age of 99. She was born in Montgomery City on November 8, 1923, the daughter of Eulah and Joe Marlow.

Mary Ann graduated from Montgomery City High School in 1941. After high school, she moved to St. Louis to work for Blackwell Wielandy. She later moved back to Montgomery City and accepted a job at the Rationing Board. 

Mary Ann married William J. (Bill) Niedergerke in Montgomery City on April 25, 1943. She moved back to St. Louis, where her husband was employed. She and Bill later moved back to Montgomery City and started the Niedergerke Truck Line with Bill’s brother, Gordon, from Fulton. 

Mary Ann volunteered at the New Florence Nursing Home in the beauty shop for over 20 years. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Montgomery City for many years. She and Bill joined the First Christian Church in Columbia.

Bill preceded her in death on August 26, 2014.

Mary Ann is survived by three sons: Tom (Jackie) of Osage Beach, Jim (Jackie) of Fulton and Bob (Mary) of St. Peters; five grandchildren: Melissa (J.D.) Hunter and Mark (Barbara) Niedergerke of Osage Beach, Nick (Christina) Niedergerke and Blake (Rhiannon) Niedergerke of Fulton and Travis Niedergerke of Atlanta (Macon County); four great-grandsons: Tyler Hunter, Zachary Hunter, Kyle Niedergerke and Kenneth Niedergerke; a great-granddaughter, Hunter Niedergerke; four nieces; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Anderson and her three brothers: James, Joe and Clifford Marlow; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and two grandsons, Trent & Tyler Niedergerke.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Schlanker Funeral Home of Montgomery City was in charge of the arrangements.
