The Montgomery County girls basketball captured its first district championship since 1998 after beating the Hermann Bearcats 56-45 in the Class 3, District 7 championship game on Feb. 26 at South Callaway High School. The Wildcats improved to 20-7 and will play Tipton in the sectional round at 6 p.m. on March 2 at Sedalia. Malia Rodgers scored 24 points to lead the Wildcats, who were the No. 1 seed in the six-team tournament. They also beat Hermann for the fourth time in two years. THEO TATE PHOTOS
