The Montgomery County softball team will have to wait three more days to start its season.
The Wildcats’ Fall Classic Tournament at Kiwanis Fields on Saturday was canceled due to the overnight rain that hit the Montgomery City area on Friday. It is the second year in a row the tournament was called off due to rain.
The Wildcats first held the tournament in 2022 after playing in the New Haven Tournament in the years past.
This year’s tournament field included Louisiana, Community R-6, Russellville, Hermann and St. Clair. MCHS was originally scheduled to play St. Clair and Russellville in pool play on Saturday.
With the tournament called off, the Wildcats will start their season at 5 p.m. Tuesday at home against Hermann.
