Michael Ray Wilson, 64 of Montgomery City was called home on May 1, 2026. He passed peacefully with his family by his side.
He was born on November 28, 1961 in Mexico (Audrain County) to Johnnie and Mary Wilson. He married his high school sweetheart, Traci Davis, on January 5, 1980. Together they had three children Brandi, Jolene and Clinton. He loved his wife and children deeply and said it often.
Michael worked for many years at Warrenton Refining, Cerro Copper and MoDOT. He spent the last 17 years trucking both over the road and locally. He worked hard to provide for his family and make sure all needs and sometimes wants were met.
Mr. Wilson fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own barbecue business in 2018 with the start of Okie Doke BBQ and Catering. He took pride in people enjoying the foods and meat he prepared.
Michael was a proud pawpaw to Keaton Wilson, Korbin Wilson, Emmi (Justin) Duenke, Eli Johnson (Sarah Angel), Ean Johnson, Ezra Johnson, Easton Utterback and Joseph (Stephanie) Utterback and great-grandsons Archi and Callahan Duenke. He loved his grandchildren. One of his favorite things to do was watch his grandkids play sports and music. He was their biggest supporter in all that they did.
He is survived by his wife Traci of Montgomery City; children, Brandi (Dan) Utterback and children of Martinsburg; Jolene (Wes) Spreckelmeyer of Vandalia; and Clinton (Angie) Wilson and children of Perry; his mother, Mary Wilson of Montgomery City; in-laws Dale and Wanda Davis of Bellflower; and lifelong best friend, Paul Busken.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie J Wilson; his sister, Tina Wilson; infant son, Adam Wilson; grandson, Aaron Utterback; and great-grandson, Loghan Duenke.
A celebration of life will be held on May 15 at the Montgomery City Lions building. Family members will receive condolences from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. A light dinner, music and celebration will follow.
