Missouri Route 19 temporary closure begins Sunday

Posted

Weather permitting, on August 6 at 6 p.m., Missouri Route 19 will close for a period of up to 7 days in order to complete the tie-in work at the south roundabout and remaining work in Stage 3 of construction. The closure will be located just south of Tree Farm Road, extending south for 800 ft. This closure is necessary in order to safely complete work at this location due to steep slopes and the existing curve.

During this time, message boards will be in place to alert motorists as changes occur and traffic will be routed over the following detours:

  • Highway 100 from Herman to Highway 47 in Washington and back to I-70 at Warrenton.
  • Highway 94 from McKittrick to Highway 54 near Jefferson City and back to I-70 at Kingdom City.

Additional traffic impacts will be in place as listed below:

  • The I-70 eastbound off-ramp to Missouri Route 19 remains closed with traffic utilizing the temporary eastbound off-ramp onto the new portion of Tree Farm Road to access Missouri Route 19. Traffic on the new portion of Tree Farm Road will be one-way only ramp traffic at this time, as the south outer road, west of Missouri Route 19, will remain closed until later this fall. Traffic needing to access this route will need to detour to the Missouri Route 161 interchange at Danville.
  • The westbound on-ramp to I-70 is closed with traffic being detoured north to the new Clark Drive and onto Booneslick Road, west to Danville, to access westbound Interstate 70 at the Missouri Route 161 interchange.
  • North Outer Road of I-70/Booneslick Road, west of MO 19, will remain closed from MO 19 to the FastLane entrance. Access to the FastLane entrance and west are open and accessible from the new Clark Drive.

Weather permitting, on August 12, Missouri Route 19 is anticipated to re-open and traffic will be shifted onto the new MO 19 bridge over I-70 while the eastern portion of the project is constructed. This begins Stage 4 of the project. During this time, drivers can expect to experience the following traffic impacts when traveling in this area:

  • The North Outer Road, Booneslick, west of MO 19, will open from Highway 19 to FastLane, but will have right-in/right-out only access at Highway 19. Drivers wishing to travel northbound on MO 19 from the North Outer Road/Booneslick will continue to use Clark Drive.
  • Upon exiting WB I-70, traffic will detour onto the temporary off-ramp and onto a portion of the North Outer Road/Booneslick. This detour will accommodate one-way traffic only and access to businesses will be right-in/right-out only. At the intersection with MO 19 only right turn movements will be permitted to travel north. Motorists wishing to travel southbound on MO 19 from the WB I-70 exit ramp will utilize the Clark drive extension as a detour loop in conjunction with the north outer road.
  • The North Outer Road/Booneslick will be closed to eastbound traffic between MO 19 and Coop road.
  • The I-70 WB on-ramp will re-open from southbound Highway 19. Northbound Highway 19 traffic will access this ramp by taking Clark Drive to the North Outer Road.
  • The current EB I-70 on-ramp will be closed. Traffic wishing to access eastbound I-70 from MO 19 will use the South Outer Road/Tree Farm Rd., near Love's Truck Stop, in conjunction with the temporary pavement.

To manage traffic flow, the South Outer Road/Tree Farm Rd., east of MO 19, will be closed at the temporary I-70 access point. Drivers wishing to access areas on the South Outer Road, east of the I-70 access, will need to travel east on I-70 and utilize the interchange at High Hill.

The I-70 eastbound off-ramp to Missouri Route 19 will remain closed with traffic utilizing the temporary eastbound off-ramp onto the new portion of Tree Farm Road to access Missouri Route 19, as described above.
