New cleaning business opens in Montgomery City

A vacant building at 112 West Third Street in Montgomery City helped give Miranda Jones-Collins an opportunity to expand her cleaning business.

The Montgomery County resident has opened a new office there for her business, Faithful Hands Janitorial Services, LLC. A grand opening is scheduled from 8 a.m.-noon on May 2.

“I like it to grow something that will serve the community and last,” Jones-Collins said. “I would absolutely love to take on employees so they can create jobs for others. It’s something that could last in the community for a really long time. We are Christian-based. It’s something that also has a heart to serve others and bring that kind of joy to other people.”

Faithful Hands does residential and commercial cleaning and helps with moving. Office hours are by appointment only.

Jones-Collins said she is the only employee in her business right now, but she hopes to add some employees soon.

“The business model was to build our clientele with trust,” Jones-Collins said. “I expanded it now to where I could take on employees, but we just wanted to keep that model and that consistency. So we’re planning in mid-May to put some stuff out in the community and start the hiring process to take on some more help.”

Faithful Hands’ current building housed three beauty salons within the last 50 years. Celestial Beauty, which was owned by Kristi Hager, operated there for a year before it moved to 1110 North Sturgeon in February.

“I knew Kristi,” Jones-Collins said. “I used to have my hair done over there whenever she moved locations. I saw that it was available and I just reached out.”

Jones-Collins worked as a supervisor at the stave mill in New Florence for five years before starting her cleaning business in March. Her business also serves residents in Wright City and Fulton.

“I have a big family,” Jones-Collins said. “I have six kids. God put it in my heart to do something. I love serving people and cleaning is something where you can go in and lift a burden off of somebody. That’s really the heart of what I wanted to do. I like supervising to help people, but this is another way that I can do that and service people and help them and build up for my family that hopefully long-lasting for the community.”

Jones-Collins said she came with the name of her business because of her growing faith.

“God’s got me through a lot of things the last five years of my life, specifically,” Jones-Collins said. “The thought of Faithful Hands is to have a selfless attitude and serve others humbly. So, I always worked a lot with my hands. So the thought is when you’re serving others, no matter what you’re going through, you just be faithful in it.”

Jones-Collins is originally from Grayson, Ky., 97 miles east of Lexington. She graduated from Morehead State University with a degree in agribusiness. She moved to Montgomery County five years ago.
