Kerry Lee (Morgan) Sloan, 61, of Columbia, passed away at University Hospital surrounded by her children and family, on November 23, 2021.

Kerry was born February 26th, 1960, to Richard and Shirley (Null) Morgan in Columbia. Kerry lived in and around the Boone and Montgomery County areas in her early childhood days. Her family relocated to Tyler, Texas when she was 13 years old.

Kerry attended Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas were she also cheered for her high school football team. She often told stories of her days in Texas with her siblings, who were all girls: Kristy, Kelly and Kim. Kerry was the oldest of the 4 girls. 

Her time in Texas would lead to her meeting and marrying her first husband, Tony Lee Casey. They had four children, Amanda, Kathy, Clint and Melanie. Kerry then returned home to Missouri in 1983 to raise her children and to be closer to family. 

In 1986, Kerry met her second husband, Frank Sloan, The two of them had a child, Frankie Thomas Sloan, Jr. Then, they raised a strong beautiful family together. 

Kerry could often be found curled up reading a book or crocheting blankets for her loved ones. In her free time, she liked to embark on adventures with her grandchildren. She was well known for spoiling them. Her famous words were, “I’m the grandma and that’s my job!” 

Kerry never met a stranger she could not get along with. Her knickknacks were a collection to behold. Her collection ranged from fairies to her native American artifacts. But her lasting legacy will be her 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. 

Kerry is survived by her five children, daughter Amanda Liberty of Montgomery City, Kathy Casey of Buell, Clint Casey of Columbia, Melanie Casey of Ashland, and Frankie Thomas Sloan, Jr. and daughter-in-law Ayla Sloan of Columbia. Her grandchildren: Angel Thornhill, Sierra Liberty, Shawn Liberty, Gabriel Maylee, Dakota Varvil, Jada Kroner, Garret, Wyatt, Shelby Sloan and Ayana, and Eli, followed by the youngest of the grandchildren, River and Hunter. Other survivors are great-granddaughter Grace Thornhill; her sisters, Kristy Hunter, Kelly Morgan and Kim Oliver; nieces and nephews; and partner Gary Dixon. She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Shirley Morgan, beloved husband Frank Sloan and grandchild Sawyer Sloan.

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. on Dec. 11 at the Ashland Baptist Church in Ashland with services following.
