Collin Parker’s basketball career continues.
The former Montgomery County standout is playing professionally overseas in Hungary. He is a member of the MVM-OSE Lions.
Parker, who is from Montgomery City, is one of several United States players on the Hungarian roster. The others are Rayshon Harrison and Kedrian Johnson.
Parker enjoyed outstanding careers in both high school and college. He graduated from MCHS in 2021, Columbia College in 2025 and Austin Peay University in May.
While in high school, When he was a senior, he earned Class 4 all-state honors after finishing as the Wildcats’ top scorer at 19 points per game and helping his team win Eastern Missouri Conference and district championships. He also averaged 12 rebounds, four blocks and 2.5 assists per game. He made 55 percent of his shots and 85 percent of his free throws.
Parker’s success carried into Columbia College, where he earned two all-American awards, received conference player of year honors twice and finished as the school’s all-time leading scorer. He played with his older brother, Carson, for three years.
Parker earned an extra college basketball season last year after playing at Columbia College for four years. He was a strong addition to the Austin Peay roster as he led the Governors in points (17.5), field goals (194), defensive rebounds (157), three-point percentage (40.0) and free-throw percentage (81.5). He earned Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Year and first-team all-conference honors. He was also a four-time Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week, a two-time conference player of the week and a recipient of the Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week.
The strong efforts helped play a key role in Austin Peay’s outstanding season. The Clarksville, Tenn., school finished 22-9 and reached the conference semifinals after going 14-19 the year before.
Parker graduated from Austin Peay with a Master’s degree in business administration in May. He was named on the Athletics Directors Honor Roll.
After his college basketball career was over, Parker got a taste of the NBA. He had workouts with three teams – the Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies.
Parker had an agent named Fernando Tejada who helped him get tryouts in Detroit and Brooklyn. Both teams paid for Parker to come out to the workout sessions.
Parker signed a professional contract to play basketball in Hungary and left for the European country on Aug. 15.
Recently, Parker helped the MVM-OSE Lions place third in the Morgen Ferdinánd Memorial Tournament. The Lions defeated Budapest Honvéd SE 86-85.
