Richard Harrel Janes, 76, passed away at his home December 26, 2023 after an extended illness. He was born September 6, 1947 in St. Louis.
Richard was the only child of Harrel B. Janes and Ada M. (Hollis) Janes.
Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He married Patricia Laramie in St. Louis on September 1, 1973. They began living in Montgomery County in 1981. Richard received his Bachelor’s of Science degree at Southern Illinois University and his Master’s degree at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He worked at the Warren County extension office for the University of Missouri as a farm management specialist – a job he loved – for 28 years. He retired due to health concerns. He was a member of the Montgomery City Christian Church for 40 years.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Pat, he is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Drysdale and husband Doug of Bridgeton; one son, Stephen Janes and wife Lindsey (Dixon) of New Florence; four grandchildren; Taylor Janes, Aubrey Janes, Kason Drysdale and Kinsley Drysdale; two brothers-in-law, Terry and Ron Laramie of St. Louis; and many other extended family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Richard will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.
