Rita Ann Branstetter passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at St. Andrews in New Florence.
She was born January 11, 1940, in Milan (Sullivan County), the daughter of William Edward and Hilda Perleburg Daily.
Rita married Richard Earl "Dick" Branstetter Jr. on July 13, 1957 in Milan and he preceded her in death on April 10, 2022.
Survivors include three sons, Richard (Cindy) Branstetter III of High Hill, Ryan (Amanda) Branstetter of Shawnee, Kan., and Robert (Tracy) Branstetter of Manito, Ill.; one daughter-in-law; Becky Branstetter; two brothers; Bill (Melody) Daily of Glasgow and Pat (Vicki) Daily of Milan; three sisters; Mary Bracht of Warrenton, Joan Smith of Green City and Katy Daily of St. Louis; eight grandchildren, Richard (Tracy) Branstetter IV, Lori (Eric) Stathem, Heather Branstetter, Kristian (Seth) Moore, Madaline (Justin) McGill, Mara, Mason and Maxton Branstetter; seven great-grandchildren; Ivy Stathem, Andrew Stathem, James and Anna Branstetter, Aubrey and Ashlyn Branstetter, Riley Ann Bryant, Weston Randall Moore and Oliver Michael Moore; and two great-great-grandsons, Waylon and Hank Varner.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick, and one son; Randy Branstetter.
Rita found joy in many creative and meaningful pursuits throughout her life. She was a gifted painter, whose hands brought beauty and warmth into everything she touched. Rita had a fond passion for her flower gardens and took such great care of them; they were always a beautiful site to admire. Whether on the water fishing with Dick, carefully decorating cake or preparing meals that showcased her talent as an excellent cook, Rita’s passions reflected her love of both artistry and family. More than her many skills, she will be remembered as the perfect mom and grandma—always offering love, guidance, and comfort to those blessed to be in her care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Oct. 4 at St. William Catholic Church in Perry (Ralls County) with Father John Henderson officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass at the church. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Branstetter IV, Mason Branstetter, Maxton Branstetter and Andrew Stathem. Bienhoff Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
