Roland Clemonds III

Roland Edson Clemonds III of Cedar Hill died on February 8, 2023 at the age of 67. Roland was born to Bruce and Ebba Clemonds in St. Louis. He attended Montgomery County High School and joined the United States Army in 1974, serving six years as a military policeman (including a one-year tour in Korea). Roland was honorably discharged in 1980.

Roland worked as a police officer for Wright City. He also worked at Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery City Police Department, where he retired.

Roland was the beloved husband of Frances Clemonds (Pethick) who preceded him in death. He is survived by his three daughters, Christine Kolling, Samantha Diehl and Krista Miller; son, Christopher Clemonds; six siblings; Aldona Clemonds, Mae Hull, Kaye Clemonds, Darlene Callaway, Ebba Bearce and Bruce Clemonds. Roland loved being called Papa by his 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bruce and Ebba Clemonds; a sister Brenda Burdess; and a son Rickey Maass.

Roland was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved sharing great stories about his adventures. In his spare time, Roland enjoyed fishing, firearms and collecting tools. He loved it when his daughters and grandchildren went fishing with him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation and funeral will be at the Jonesburg Christian Church on March 25, 2023 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Visitation starts at 9 a.m. and funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jonesburg immediately following the service.

After interment, a celebration of life luncheon for family and friends will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jonesburg.
