Rooster’s Farm Pumpkin Patch is back for another fall season of fun.
The family-owned business that is located outside Jonesburg will officially start its second year at 11 a.m. on Sept. 23, when it has its opening day. Rooster’s Farm has six acres of pumpkins and plenty of activities for children of all ages, such as a corn maze, a 20-foot pipe slide, duck races and a bounce house.
The Ludy family owns Rooster’s Farm, which is located at 30903 Honey Locust Road, just two miles east of the Montgomery County border.
“We would like to see a good amount of people come out and see happy and smiling faces and have everybody enjoy coming out,” said Patty Ludy, one of the owners. “Hopefully, through word of mouth, we could get more people coming and we’ll just continue to grow each year.”
Rooster’s Farm is named after Brody Ludy, a sixth-grade student from Montgomery County Middle School who is nicknamed Rooster. He turned 12 years old on Sept. 5.
“He is sure excited to have all of his friends come out and help and have other people come and visit the Pumpkin Patch,” Patty Ludy said.
Patty Ludy worked at a daycare center for years before she decided last year to team up with her husband, Thomas, to run a 10-acre pumpkin patch that sells gourds and many kinds of pumpkins such as regular orange, white and black and mini.
Rooster’s Farm had its grand opening on Sept. 24, 2022. It drew many visitors from all over Missouri in its first year.
“It was really amazing,” Patty said. “It was really rewarding to see all of those kids and their families out here enjoying the time with each other. It exceeded our expectations.”
Rooster’s Farm will have new additions such as a concession stand with a pavilion and a slide that comes out of an old truck.
“We have the one truck slide that we had last year that had the big pipes coming out of it,” Patty said. “This one is more geared towards the younger kids. This would be a slide that would be on a swing set.”
Rooster’s Farm will open daily from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. until Oct. 31. Admission is $8 and children 2 and under will get in free of charge. The cost for patrons 55 and over is $6. All activities are included with admission.
