Ross Martin Castle, 90, of Montgomery City, died on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at his home.

Ross Martin Castle was born February 6, 1931 in Littlefield, Texas to Oliver Lee Castle and Vesta Mae Ross Castle. He graduated from Littlefield High School in Littlefield, Texas, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1950 until 1954. 

Mr. Castle married Edith Mae Dahlem on February 19, 1955 in Overland. He was a member of the United Methodist Presbyterian Church and the Montgomery County VFW. He was a former president and board member of the Mary Ryder Home. He enjoyed painting, traveling and gardening. He will be missed by his many family and friends.

Mr. Castle is survived by his wife of over 66 wonderful years, Edith Mae Dahlem Castle of rural Montgomery City; daughter, Carol Richter and husband, DeWayne, of Sullivan, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Karen Castle Grezeszak and husband, Tom, of Kansas; son-in-law, Bill Mills of Columbia; grandchildren: William R. Mills, Robert Lee Mills, Rachael Alsheri, Kevin Mills, Mirah Mills, Ross Castle II, Jennifer Miller, Ben Richter and Amanda Wilson; great-grandchildren: Eli, Sam, Silas, Wade, Lillian, Aunika and Damien; brother, Loyde Castle of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Castle was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Lee Castle and Vesta Mae Ross Castle; son, Ronald Ross Castle; daughter, Mary “Terry” Mills; sister-in-law, Margaret Castle; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 31, 2021 at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Wellsville. The Reverend John Ray and the Reverend Paul Catterton will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Aug. 30 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City. Casketbearers include Loyde Castle, Marvin Miller, Billy Mills, Kevin Mills, DeWayne Richter, Ben Richter, Ross Castle II and Clint Wilson.
