The Montgomery County softball team lost all four of its games at the Vivian Jo Memorial Take The Lake Tournament, played on Friday and Saturday at the Ballparks National in Macks Creek, located at the Lake of the Ozarks area.
The Wildcats fell to Iberia, Southern Boone, Oak Park and Marshfield. They lost all of their games by a combined total of seven runs.
MCHS came into the tournament with a 6-0 record. It lost 4-3 to Iberia and 3-2 to Southern Boone in 12 innings on Friday and 8-4 to Oak Park and 7-6 to Marshfield in nine innings on Saturday.
The Wildcats dropped to 6-4 after the tournament. They were scheduled to play a home game against Bowling Green on Tuesday. They will travel to Clopton on Thursday.
In the final game against Marshfield, MCHS led 5-3 before the Blue Jays came back to tie it with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Wildcats led 6-5 before Marshfield – which won a Class 4 district title in 2025 – came back with an RBI triple by Kendyl Dolan and a passed ball in the bottom of the ninth to win the game.
Against Southern Boone, MCHS led 1-0 in the top of the 11th before the Eagles – who won a district title in Class 3 last year – tied it in the bottom half of the inning. The Wildcats broke the 1-1 tie in the top of the 12th before the Ashland school scored two runs in the bottom half to win the contest.
MCHS had a 3-2 lead over Iberia before the Rangers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to knock off the Wildcats.
Against Oak Park, a Class 5 school from Kansas City, the Wildcats trailed 2-0 before coming back to tie it at 2-2 in the bottom of the third. The Lady Oakies scored two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead they would never relinquish.
Senior Reese Hill led the Wildcats with seven hits in the tournament, including a home run against Oak Park on Saturday. Against Marshfield, she gave her team a 6-5 lead with an RBI single in the top of the ninth.
Senior Sam Turner had five hits in the tournament, including a solo home run in the top of the fourth against Marshfield.
MCHS played in the Take The Lake tournament for the third straight year. They finished 3-1 last year and 1-3 the year before.
