A Jonesburg resident was shot multiple times in an altercation Tuesday, July 21, according to police.
The shooting happened around 10 a.m. near the intersection of Railroad Street and Sherwood Avenue, according to Jonesburg Police Officer Ron McBride.
“A suspect is in custody and the victim is in the hospital,” McBride said, adding that he could not yet release either person’s name.
McBride said that to the best of his knowledge the victim suffered multiple gunshots to the torso. He said he has not been updated on the victim’s condition since they were taken to the hospital.
“They were breathing and talking I believe when they left, but I don’t know any further than that,” he said.
The man who is in custody in connection with the shooting is the only suspect involved, but he had not been formally charged as of early Tuesday afternoon.
“With this being an active, open case right now, the suspect has not been charged yet,” McBride said. “We’re still working on the paperwork side.”
No information has been released about a motive in the shooting.
