PSB Bank was recently recognized by the Missouri Bankers Association for its long-standing commitment to financial education through the Teach Children to Save program.
The recognition was part of the Missouri Bankers Association Foundation’s 2026 Teach Children to Save Challenge, which highlighted PSB Bank’s social media post featuring the bank’s Teach Children to Save efforts at St. George Catholic School. As part of the recognition, the Missouri Bankers Association Foundation awarded St. George Catholic School $250 to support continued financial education tied to the Teach Children to Save program. PSB Bank matched the contribution, bringing the total donation to $500.
Since launching its Teach Children to Save program in 2006, PSB Bank employees have made more than 800 classroom visits, reached more than 19,000 students and visited 12 schools across the communities the bank serves. During classroom visits, employees talk with students about saving money, making smart choices and building healthy financial habits early. Students also receive a $5 savings coupon that can be deposited into a PSB Bank youth savings account, giving them a simple, hands-on way to start saving or add to their existing savings.
Teach Children to Save is a national program of the American Bankers Association Foundation that encourages banks to provide savings-related lessons, presentations and events for students. The ABA Foundation describes the program as a way for banker volunteers to help young people build essential money skills through classroom visits, community events, virtual presentations and online resources.
“Teaching children to save is about more than one classroom lesson,” said Anita VanBooven, PSB Bank’s Teach Children to Save Program Director. “It’s about helping students understand that small choices can make a big difference over time. We’re proud to work with local schools and teachers to make saving real, simple and achievable for students.”
For PSB Bank, the program reflects a long-standing commitment to supporting local schools and helping students build a strong foundation for the future.
“Our employees have been visiting classrooms for 20 years because we believe financial education matters,” said Mark Laune, President and CEO of PSB Bank. “When students learn the value of saving at a young age, they gain tools that can help them for the rest of their lives. We’re honored by this recognition and proud to support St. George Catholic School with this contribution.”
PSB Bank’s Teach Children to Save program is one example of the bank’s ongoing commitment to local education, community involvement and relationship-based banking. Through investments of time, resources and personal attention.
