Vincent Noel Logan, 78, passed away on July 10, 2026 at Boone Hospital in Columbia.
Born in St. Louis to Samuel Wayne and Frances Noel Logan, Vincent spent his youth in Middletown. He graduated from Wellsville-Middletown High school in 1966. In 1970, he graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla with a degree in ceramic engineering.
After graduation, he spent the next 32 years working for Harbison-Walker as a supervisor in its Vandalia, Fulton and Mexico plants. For several years he was an area QA manager with plants in Missouri and Maryland. In 2002 he moved to Greensboro, N.C. after accepting a job as an area QA manager for Resco Products. In this position he was responsible for the QA function in five plants in Ohio, North Carolina and Los Angeles, Calif. In 2011, he retired and returned to Fulton after spending two years living in St. Louis.
Vincent was able to travel at least twice to each of the 50 states, Canada and Mexico. In 2018 and again in 2023, he traveled with his wife, Helen, Matthew, Leah, and Lillie Logan to Moira, Northern Ireland where they were able to visit the farm and home of his grandfather, Samuel Wilson Logan.
In addition to traveling, Vincent enjoyed hunting and fishing. He made four fishing trips to Alaska and one trip to Saskatchewan. He was able to fish in five other states which included surfing, in shore and deep sea fishing. He was able to waterfowl and upland game hunt in seven states. He also spent a lot of time on his farm near Wellsville. He purchased this farm in 1972. The farm was originally purchased by his great-grandfather J.D. Burgess in 1878 when he moved to Wellsville from Floyd County, Va. This farm has been designated as a Century Farm.
Vincent was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved to laugh and swap stories with friends and thoroughly enjoyed a good joke. Vincent was always ready to have fun and was a frequent participant in water gun battles, card games and Little League cheering sections. He always made time to support his children and grandchildren in all of their activities, and his presence and enthusiasm will be greatly missed.
Vincent is survived by his wife Helen of the home, daughter Melissa (Rob) Lin of Sacramento, Calif., son Matthew (Leah) Logan of Pleasant Hill, grandchildren, Sydney and Mackenzie Lin of Sacramento and Lillie Logan of Pleasant Hill; Helen’s son, Tanner (Angela) Russell of Fulton and their sons Jonah, William and Jameson, who knew Vincent as Quack-Quack because of Vincent’s Donald Duck talk and blowing off his many duck calls for them.
There will be a visitation at First Presbyterian Church from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. on Aug. 1. A private graveside service is being planned for another time.
Donations in honor of Vincent are encouraged to Middletown Cemetery Association, Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, or Fulton Breakfast Optimist Club, in care of Maupin Funeral Home 301 Douglas Blvd, Fulton, MO 65251.
