The Montgomery County volleyball team cruised past the competition in the Eastern Missouri Conference, going 6-0 and winning its sixth straight league crown.
The Wildcats also showed their dominance on this year’s all-EMO volleyball team. They got five players on the all-conference team, more than any other school.
Seniors Olivia Shaw, Ellie Robinson and Morgan Koch were named on the first team and juniors Ava Rakers and Alexis Ramo earned second-team honors. Shaw was named on the all-EMO team for the second year in row, while Robinson, Koch, Rakers and Ramo earned their first all-league selections.
There were 12 players on the all-conference team. Bowling Green and North Callaway each had three selections, while Wright City had one. There were only four teams in this year’s conference.
With this year’s all-EMO volleyball honor, Shaw now has a total of eight all-conference awards in four sports. She has two all-league awards each in cross country, girls basketball and track.
Shaw also played on 11 conference championship teams. She also helped the girls basketball and cross country teams win three titles and the girls track squad capture two. On Oct. 14, Shaw helped the cross country squad capture its third straight title.
Last year, Shaw joined now-graduated Bailey Fischer and Addison Schluss on the all-EMO volleyball team, earning first-team honors. This year, Shaw earned another all-league award after recording a team-high 304 kills.
Robinson recorded a career-high 554 assists as a setter, Koch finished with 86 kills and 182 digs, Ramo had 98 kills and 32 blocks and Rakers had 112 service points.
The Wildcats had two wins apiece over Bowling Green, North Callaway and Wright City. They extended their conference winning streak to 49 matches.
MCHS won its 12th EMO title in program history. The Wildcats also won six championships in a row from 1988-1993.
