Wilma Jane Sanker Weeks, 96, of Novinger, formerly of Montgomery City and Washington (Franklin County), died on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at The Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

Wilma Jane Sanker Weeks was born December 15, 1926 in Warren County to Edward Herman and Martha Alvena Reese Sanker. On a snowy Christmas Day of 1944, Wilma married the love of her life, James Edward Weeks. They were married for almost 68 years when Mr. Weeks preceded her in death on December 22, 2012. Mrs. Weeks was a side-by-side partner to her husband in their farming operation in a big garden that included row cropping, raising hogs, sheep, cattle and chickens.

Mrs. Weeks was the epitome of the “professional” homemaker. Much like the virtuous woman of Proverbs, “She is clothed with strength and dignity. She can add laughter to the days to come. She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” Mrs. Weeks moved to Kirksville when her health started to decline. Mrs. Weeks was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Her biggest love was spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Weeks is survived by her two daughters: Betty Sue Fetters of Novinger; and Anita Jane James and husband, Clyde “Jack” of Kirksville; grandchildren: Timothy Tyrone Fetters and wife, April, of Bedford, Texas; Angela Anita Fields and husband, Donnie, of Green Castle; Stephanie Rochelle Murphy and husband, Bill, of O’Fallon; and Bryan Scott James and wife, Bridget of Nashville, Tenn.; and nine great-grandchildren, Araya Fetters, Kros Fetters, Kannon Fetters, Devin Fields, Laydon Fields, Katherine Murphy, Alexander James, Xavier James and Vivian James; sister-in-law, Marjorie Weeks of High Hill, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Weeks was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Edward Weeks; son-in-law, G. Archie Fetters; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Hudson; Walter Eugene Weeks; Helen Ruth and Peter Babcock; and Margaret Fry.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City. Pastor Alan Coonfield will officiate and interment will be in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, north of Montgomery City. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service on Wednesday at the Schlanker Funeral Home. Casketbearers will include Tim Fetters, Bryan James, Donnie Fields, Bill Murphy, Devin Fields and Laydon Fields. Honorary casketbearers include Araya Fetters, Kros Fetters, Kannon Fetters, Katherine Murphy, Alexander James, Xaiver James and Vivian James.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, in care of Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO 63361.
