The High Hill Hounds girls track team competed at the Show-Me Games on July 25 at Battle High School in Columbia.
The athletes were Emmersyn and Elliana Alder, Addyson and Kylinn Bethel, Julia and Lillian Elder, Jersey and Willow Ford, Alva and Jasper Powell and Madeline Schroeder.
“These athletes are always so fun and this event gets better each year,” Coach Susan Elder said. “Many of the runners that have competed in the past raced again this year and little siblings even joined in on the fun. Our runners ranged in age from 3-14 years old. This year was outstanding. Not only is it so rewarding to see the athletes mature and improve but to watch these kids be incredibly supportive to all of the runners and have such great sportsmanship makes my heart happy. This year’s games were miserably hot and humid, but I did not hear a single complaint. I heard support between the teammates, lots of running for water and refreshments, and words of encouragement pushing each other to reach the goals they had been practicing so hard for!”
