A new subdivision is almost completed on the southeast section of Jonesburg as there are nine homes and a six-unit townhouse already built.
Construction started on the houses last year and will end in mid-December. Main Street Real Estate in Warrenton started selling the houses in August. The subdivision has a dog park and a playground area.
“They all love it,” said Oscar Hunter, who works for Hunter Saak Investments. “There are concrete walking trails all the way through it. There are street lights at night and there are three parks, a dog park, a children’s park and an adult park.”
There will be 14 resident houses and 14 townhouses in the subdivision.
“The townhouses are huge,” Hunter said.
The street names of the subdivision are named Jimmy H Street and Stacy Place, named after Hunter’s children. Samantha Richardson, a broker/owner at Main Street Real Estate, said Hunter came up with the idea of adding a subdivision in Jonesburg.
“Mr. Hunter has been thinking about doing this for a while,” Richardson said. “He’s been showing that property a few times. He finally got all of the plans and things approved.”
Each of the houses in the subdivision has a six-foot privacy fence. Hunter said the new subdivision, which is located next to Jonesburg Elementary School, helps provide more housing opportunities for Jonesburg residents.
“Jonesburg was struggling (with housing), so we decided to get some more housing for Jonesburg because we want to try to keep the local people with a place to live,” Hunter said. “There was no place for them to live.”
