Bernard Jones, 80, of Danville, died on Sept. 29 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

Bernard Jones was born March 2, 1943, along with twin brother Birney, in Hannibal to Virgil and Lucille Jones. He was one of 10 children. 

Bernard worked for Lone Star Gas Station, was a welder at the Callaway Power Plant and did carpentry work with his brother. Bernard was also known for planting delicious tomatoes every summer. Bernard was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served our country from 1964-1968.

Mr. Jones is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Thomas) Schmitt of Hughesville (Pettis County); son, Scott Jones of Montgomery City; daughter, Paula (Jonathan) Jones of Danville; grandchildren, Courtney (Robert) Richey, Kyle Schmitt, Trystyen Jones, Finn Ballard, Brandi Jones and Aaron Gotcher; and six great grandchildren.

Mr. Jones will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens on October 6 at 2 p.m. following a small family graveside service.
