A boxer dog that is owned by Montgomery County residents will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., on June 13 to compete in the UKC (United Kennel Club) Premier Nationals Event.
The dog is named Beau and is owned by Travis and Chelsea Camp of Montgomery City and Rhonda Camp of Wellsville.
Beau was ranked the No. 1 UKC Boxer in the country last year and earned the invitation to the UKC Premier Nationals, which is an invitation only show that serves as the finals for the 2023 show season.
Beau traveled a large part of the country last year, attending shows in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Indiana and Texas. During those shows he was awarded points for every Boxer that he placed over for each win. He ended the year with 69 breed points, with the next closed dog having 48 points. He also was awarded several titles and awards along the way including UKC Champion, UKC Grand Champion, IABCA National, International and Honors Champion, as well as a major win and several points towards an AKC champion title. He received a best in show placement as well as multiple reserve best in shows and many group and breed wins along the way. Beau will compete against the other top-10 ranked Boxers from around the country and possibly compete against the winners from all the other breeds. There are close to 2,000 dogs entered in the event.
