Carole Canterbury

Carole Canterbury, 81, of Wellsville, passed away Monday August 14, 2023 at Boone Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Aug. 18 at Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Burial will follow in the Wellsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 17 at the funeral home.

Carole was born July 1, 1942 in Mexico (Audrain County). She was the daughter of Lonnie and Agatha (Hoepf) Kelch. She married Joe Canterbury on April 2, 1961, in Martinsburg. Joe preceded her in death on June 6, 2019.

Carole was a beautician. She worked for a few years in St. Louis, then for several years at Jean-Franc Salon in Wellsville. She later worked the farm with her husband.

She was a graduate of Montgomery County High School and was a member of the school’s basketball team. She had a great deal of pride in her school. She bled royal blue. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Joe. Together, they visited all 50 states plus Mexico and Canada. Their favorite trip was going to Alaska.

Survivors include one son, Clint Canterbury (Lynette) of Mexico; one daughter, Misty Richardson (James) of Winnsboro, La.; three sisters, Kay Meyers (Carl) of Maryville, Tenn., Connie Kelch of Shamrock and Bonnie Huenefeld (Ronny) of Danville; two grandchildren, Bryan Richardson and Casey Richardson (Alyssa) of Winnsboro; and two great-grandchildren, Maddilyn Kate and Josie, both of Winnsboro.

In addition to her husband, Carole was preceded in death by her parents; and niece, Melissa Foster Bextermueller.
