Seven Montgomery County elected officials were sworn in by Associate Circuit Judge Nathan Carroz on Dec. 30 at the Montgomery County Courthouse.

The officials were 1st District Commissioner Dave Teeter, 2nd District Commissioner Doug Lensing, County Clerk Carole Weeks, Sheriff Craig Allison, Public Administrator Kaley Reagan, Coroner Jason Luna and Surveyor Larry Bade.

All of them won their respective races in the general election on Nov. 5. Each of them ran unopposed.

Teeter will serve his second term as 1st District Commissioner. Four years ago, Teeter replaced Rich Daniels in that position after the latter retired after 20 years.

Teeter worked over 30 years in the education field, most of them were at the Montgomery County R-II School District. He retired in 2017.

Lensing, a Rhineland resident, will serve in his second term as 2nd District Commissioner. In 2020, Lensing replaced John Noltensmeyer – another Rhineland resident – in that position. His father, Carl, served as 2nd District Commissioner more than 30 years ago.

Weeks will serve an unexpired term as county clerk. In January 2024, she took over county clerk duties following the retirement of Kathy Hancock in December 2023. Weeks was sworn in as county clerk by Carroz on Jan. 2 at the courthouse.

Weeks has been working at the county clerk’s office since the 2020 election. Before that, she worked as a nurse for 28 years and an auctioneer for eight. Weeks also worked as a disc jockey.

Allison will serve his second term as county sheriff. He’s been with the sheriff’s department since 1995. He worked in the patrol division for 13 years and major case squad and upper level administration for 12 before he was elected sheriff in 2020, replacing the retired Matt Schoo.

An Illinois native, Luna is the current chief of the Montgomery City Police Department. He has been with the department since 1998. He worked as a K-9 officer and lieutenant and served as interim chief following the retirement of David Turner.

A 2002 MCHS graduate, Reagan took over interim public administrator duties in 2001 after the passing of Ann Scarlet, who worked as the county’s public administrator for 21 years.

Bade is serving his fourth term as surveyor. He has held that position since 2012.
