When Cassie Hasekamp started her Forever Yours photography business in 2022, she was thrilled with the opportunity to capture the memories for Montgomery County-area residents at a reasonable rate.
“I really wanted family photos to be taken, but I just felt like I couldn’t afford any of the prices that a lot of photographers here had,” the Montgomery County resident said. “So I felt like one thing that I could really do was offer my services since I really love photography and just provide affordable photography for our area.”
As the year 2024 approaches its second month, Hasekamp is setting her sights on getting more opportunities to take pictures of weddings, which is her favorite part of photography.
“I really have fallen in love with working at weddings,” Hasekamp said. “I really love those because I get to celebrate and just capture memories of two people falling in love. I also love to do family photography. I just love to capture the personalities of the children. I think that’s super fun.”
Hasekamp has been married for six years. Her husband, Cody, works as a teacher at the Montgomery County R-II School District and coaches the high school golf team in the spring.
Hasekamp said a college friend of hers took photos at her wedding.
“I definitely got inspiration from his editing style,” she said. “I really liked how he edits his photos. So that’s kind of the inspiration I got from him. I never really reached out to him for advice. I’ve been trying to teach myself as much as possible. Thankfully, I got a lot of photographers I can reach out to for advice.”
Hasekamp is from Green City, which is located west of Kirksville. She and her family moved to Montgomery County in September 2022, which was the time she started her photography business.
“It was kind of hard to start my business because I didn’t know anyone around here,” Hasekamp said. “But this business has been such a blessing because it allowed me to make a lot of new friends.”
When Hasekamp decided to start a photography business, she didn’t have trouble coming up with a name.
“I wanted to make sure that I could capture the memories that could be forever yours,” she said. “That was just the thought that kept popping in my head.”
Hasekamp, who also works at the Montgomery County Joint Communications Center, said she started taking pictures just two years ago.
“I got really serious in September 2022,” she said. “I had some family members come up to me and ask me to take some photos. That’s kind of how it got started. I think it’s really good to have a creative outlet when you work in such a serious field. It’s definitely really good for my mental health.”
Currently, Forever Yours is having a Valentine’s special in which customers can receive $20 off on a couples or engagement session.
