Joined by fellow community bankers from across the country, as well as U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and top department officials, Jonesburg State Bank President and CEO Dan Robb participated in a U.S. Department of the Treasury Financial Literacy Month Roundtable with Community Bank Leaders in Washington, D.C.

As one of the 14 bank leaders invited to participate in the Roundtable, Robb shared his perspective on the importance of financial literacy as the nation marks Financial Literacy Month. He also detailed Jonesburg State Bank’s efforts to provide financial education in the local communities and the critical role bank employees play in reaching Missourians of all ages.

During the Roundtable, he offered his suggestions as the Treasury Department looks to update the National Strategy on Financial Literacy.

“I want to thank Secretary Bessent and the Treasury Department for this unique opportunity to highlight Jonesburg State Bank’s financial literacy efforts,” Robb said. “It was an honor to join my fellow community bankers and demonstrate our industry’s strong commitment to improving the financial skills of all Americans. We were able to share concrete suggestions for enhancing financial literacy across the nation.”

Jonesburg State Bank is actively involved with the local schools in multiple financial literacy projects, including elementary visits to discuss “Teach Children to Save” and “Get Smart About Credit” at our local high schools.

“Jonesburg State Bank’s commitment to financial literacy sets a powerful example of the impact banks can have when they prioritize the wellbeing and financial health of their customers and communities,” said Lindsay Torrico, Roundtable participant and executive director of the American Bankers Association Foundation. “We appreciated hearing Dan detail the bank’s efforts to improve financial literacy in the community, and it was helpful to hear what’s working and where we still have work to do.”

The Roundtable gave Robb the opportunity to learn more about innovative financial literacy efforts at other banks, as well as national programs offered by the ABA Foundation and other groups.
