David Overkamp

David Neal Overkamp of New Florence passed away on June 28 at the age of 67. David was born on Oct. 26, 1956 to Gervas and Mary (Williams) Overkamp.

David worked as a car-body mechanic and later did Civil War reenactments. He was an extra in the movies, “Ride With The Devil” and “Patriot.” He portrayed Bloody Bill Anderson in the Raid of Danville reenactment at the Baker Plantation.

David is survived by two sons, Jamie and wife Katherine of New York and Jacob of O’Fallon; one granddaughter, Ava; three brothers, Jerome of New Florence, Ronald (Marilyn) of Hermann and Randy (Robin) of Montgomery City; three sisters, Judy Brennan (Don) of Cuba (Crawford), Joyce Worley (Bob) of New Florence and Gail Grennan (Rick) of Montgomery City; Evelyn Wolf of Jonesburg; and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Gervas and Mary Overkamp; a brother, Charles Daniel; and a sister-in-law, Jacqueline (Overkamp). 

A private service will be held at a later date.
