Donald J. Bloss, 84, of St. Louis passed away on June 29.

Don was born in St. Louis on February 23, 1939, the son of the late Teresa (nee Emmerich) and Sylvester Bloss. He was united in marriage to Catharine M. (Kay) O’Donnell on June 2, 1973 in St. Louis. 

Don is survived by his wife, Kay; daughters, Donna Marie Roberts (Clinton Dean) of Goodyear, Ariz. and Patricia Bloss Orthwein (Dana Edward) of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; grandchildren, Jonathan (Tammy) Madrid, Randy Madrid and Karen Madrid; three great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Marie Vansaghi; and nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Don was preceded in death by his brother, David Joseph Bloss; brothers-in-law, Charlie Vansaghi and James E. O’Donnell, III; mother-in-law, Catharine (nee) Bernhoester O’Donnell; and father-in-law, James E. O’Donnell, Jr.

Don attended St. Cecilia Parish Grade School and St. Mary’s High School. He served our country as a Marine for four years. He worked for Euclid/Midco Equipment Company/VanKeppel Company and Loos Service & Supply. He was a member of St. Monica Parish in Creve Coeur, where he served as Eucharistic Minister. He was a Fourth Degree Knight and a member of the American Legion of Creve Coeur.

Don enjoyed time with family and friends, hunting, fishing and working in the yard.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. on July 2 at Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home in Creve Coeur. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on July 3 at St. Monica Parish in Creve Coeur. Burial with military honors was held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Montgomery City at 2 p.m. on July 3. Memorials may be given to Knights of Columbus of St. Monica Parish.
