Get Wet Car Wash is open for business

The new Get Wet Car Wash at 801 N. Sturgeon in Montgomery City is currently open for business with three self-serve bays and a dog wash.

The business is owned by HMB Property Management, which is based in St. Charles County. The owner declined to be identified.

The owner decided to buy the car wash from the previous owner in June after driving by it earlier this year.

“We had a vision when we started it,” the owner said. “It’s mostly coming together the way we thought. We had a few changes along the way that we thought would be for the better. It’s been a whole lot of work.”

The car wash has a K9000 dog washing machine. The cost for the wash is $12 for 10 minutes.

“It just seemed like it would be a good fit,” the owner said. “There are a lot of them in other towns. Montgomery seemed like a good fit to have a pet wash. It gives you a shampoo, rinse, flea control conditioner and two levels of blow drying. There’s a tub disinfectant in it.”

The self-serve bays have all new soaps and new pressure wands. Customers can pay by cash, credit card or the Get Wet Car Wash app.

“We added cameras and the radio system to each bay and the pet wash,” the owner said. “We added ceilings and new lighting all the way around. We replaced every power line and water line except for two of them. We completely changed our chemical makeup. The chemicals we have now should do a much better job cleaning, at least from what we can tell from running on test vehicles.”

All of the self-serve bays have a clearance bar, which is designed to prevent damage and warn motorists of low clearance heights.

“We put a lot of work into it,” the owner said. “We hope it stays nice and everybody takes care of it when they use it. We’ll actually have one of those for the auto side. Hopefully, nobody runs into it. That would be catastrophic.”

The owner said the automatic car washing machine is still under construction. It could reopen by the end of November.

“We are hoping the remaining parts for the auto wash will arrive this month and we will have the auto wash open shortly after,” the owner said. “Originally, we were hoping for Nov. 1, but the parts have delays.”

The car wash will also have an ice and filtered water machine, but that will not open until the spring.

“We haven’t gotten to the ice portion yet,” the owner said. “But it is getting to the time of year that nobody is going to need ice.”
