Glitterville is on the move again.
The store full of Christmas items began its 18th year on Oct. 30 by opening at its third location in five years. It is now located at the Allen Street Building at 308 N. Allen in Montgomery City.
For the last three years, it was held at 203 N. Sturgeon in Montgomery City. It was held at 104 W. 2nd Street in 2020 and 2021 and operated at the home of owners Jeff and Amanda Arens for many years before that.
It took the Arenses 12 days to work on their new location.
“It’s a great location,” Amanda Arens said. “It worked out beautifully here. So it’s a great space. They keep it so nice and clean. It worked out really well.”
On Oct. 30, Glitterville ran the first of its 14 days of business. It was also open on Oct. 31, Nov. 1 and 2. Glitterville was open a day before Halloween. The store gives area residents an opportunity to shop for Christmas items a month before the big holiday.
“Halloween felt strange this year,” Amanda said. “That’s why we didn’t open on a Friday. We usually open on a Friday, but it didn’t make sense to have an opening on Halloween, so that’s why we started on Oct. 30. It all depends on how weekends fall. Nov. 1 is when we shoot for and that’s on a Saturday and we rather open at night than in day, so it ended up being October this year. It is usually not before the first of November when we open, so it’s a little earlier this year. But that’s OK.”.
Glitterville will open from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Nov. 6-7, Nov. 13-14 and Nov. 20-21. It will also open from noon-3 p.m. on Nov. 8-9 and Nov. 15-16. Its last day will be on Nov. 21.
Amanda Arens, who has been the owner of her business, AA Interiors, since 2008, said she and her husband were thrilled that the owners of the Allen Events Center allowed them to open their store there.
“They have been awesome to work with,” she said. “We were able to get in between, so we will close on Nov. 21, so we will have a few days to clean up and then we will be out here before the next time they have it rented. So I talked to them a long time ago and asked when will you have things rented. So we could look at the calendar and we can fit in between those rentals.”
