The 45th Annual Hermann Wurstfest is scheduled to run from Friday through Sunday. Sponsored by the Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce, this three-day festival honors Missouri’s time-honored sausage-making traditions.

Gourmet Sausage Sampling and Sales – Attendees can savor a diverse array of sausages crafted by professional meat processors from across Missouri. Sampling sessions are scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at two locations: Stone Hill Winery Sherry House and Hermannhof Festhalle. Pre-sale tickets are available for $10, granting access to both venues each day. Tickets purchased on the day of the event will be $15. Guests are encouraged to bring coolers to stock up on their favorite brats, summer sausages and snack sticks.

Sausage-Making Competitions – Both professional and amateur sausage makers are invited to showcase their skills.

Competitions and display will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hermannhof Festhalle, with registration open from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Pre-registration is recommended for all participants.
Braunschweiger Ball – Kick off the festivities on Friday at 5 p.m. at the White House Hotel, 232 Wharf Street. Entrants are invited to present their best Braunschweiger recipes, with judging based on taste, creativity, and presentation. New this year is the “Wurst-dressed German costume contest.” RSVPs are appreciated to ensure ample refreshments. Beer will be available for sale.

Sauerkraut Making Classes – Enhance your culinary repertoire by learning the art of sauerkraut making. Classes are offered on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Wagon Works, located at 314 Gutenberg Street. The class fee is $40, and pre-registration is required.

The All You Can Eat Sausage Breakfast will be at the Hermann Fire House #1, 214 East 2nd Street, Sunday morning from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 am. Carry-outs are available. Proceeds benefit the fire department equipment fund.

Wiener Dog Derby, Talent Contest and Costume Contest – A fan-favorite event, the Wiener Dog Derby is set for Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Clara-Eitmann Messmer Amphitheater. Dog entry fees are $15 for pre-registration, $20 at the event, with proof of current vaccinations required. Spectators can enjoy this event free of charge and are suggested to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on.

Throughout the weekend, guests will be entertained by live German music and traditional dances, creating an immersive cultural experience.

The Rhineland Wurstjaegers will perform in the Sherry House at Stone Hill Winery at 1:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
