Hometown Christmas is coming back for another year in Montgomery City as the event will run from Dec. 12-14.
The annual event will have a light display at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, a visit from Santa Claus and a festive Friday night in downtown Montgomery City with many activities. It is sponsored by the Montgomery City Area Chamber of Commerce.
Hometown Christmas Friday Night was held for the last two years, attracting many people to the business section of Montgomery City. In 2023, Hometown Christmas was held on a Friday night at downtown Montgomery City for the first time in years.
The first day of Hometown Christmas will run until 8 p.m. The festivities will include firepits, caroling, a tree decorating contest and more.
The Montgomery City Public Library will have a book sale from 9 a.m.-noon on Dec. 13. Immaculate Conception and Society of St. Vincent de Paul will host a Christmas Gift and Craft Show from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Dec. 12 and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. the following day at the Knights of Columbus Hall. BelleEve Boutique will serve chili and hot dogs on Dec. 12. Sugar and Spice Laura’s Delights will have a cookie decorating event on Dec. 12. The Montgomery County Historical Society will be open on Dec. 12.
The Montgomery County Arts Council will hold a holiday display and have activities on Dec. 12. It is also holding a holiday door decor contest. Entries should be dropped off at the Arts Council building at 123 E. Third Street by Dec. 7 between 2 p.m.-5 p.m.
Santa plans to visit downtown from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Dec. 13. Over 300 toys will be given away. Children will get a chance to have their picture taken and receive a gift.
A light display will be held at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds from 6 p.m. each day at the three-day Hometown Christmas event. There will be new singing lights at the drive-thru display.
